About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to go trout-tickling and catch carp with my bare hands

ABOUT ME

This is Eva here, I think I should stop throwing my handbags into the washing machine. If you want to shorten 'Rerum Rusticarum' which is Latin, write 'RUSTIC'. My nicknames include: Hong Kong, New York, virus... my favourite gardener is Simon Allen

PHILOSOPHY

Don't make assumptions over things that no assumptions should be made about. In fact, just don't make assumptions, fullstop!!! fundamentally anti-hedonistic; the dweller in the eye of the storm- where it's the safest to be. Give people the benefit of the doubt

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

to be determined...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

nothing much- some similar experiences though like hosting 4 debaters, 2 Germans and 2 Dutch guys which was great fun! used to go camping with people from Poland, Russia, South Africa, Slovakia, Turkey, Lithuania, everywhere else really; used to crash at judges' houses and sleep on the floor with beautiful beautiful speakers; and brush teeth with them in the morning 4 persons to one bathtub;

Interests

Comedy Improvisation; History of Medicine 1 A.D. - 2010; Legal history 1066 - 2010; The Selden Society; clinical neuroscience; music- classical, hard rock, musical... ish, pop, songs in: Latin, French, Spanish, Italian, Cantonese Chinese, English, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, I'm not trying to be too ambitious here but there's no point in limiting myself to English when there's so much out there. Singing a bit; adoring Labour politicans of the House of Commons, London (ie. having a slightly unhealthy interest in politicians); encouraging the sociologists to speak to the neuropsychologists; I am really seriously interested in Chinese Feng Shui (admittedly I haven't always been interested in it)

Music, Movies & Books

Music- Laura Pausini, Jay Chou (Taiwanese pop), May Day (Taiwanese pop), Yu Quan (Chinese pop), Alanis Morisette, Muse, Nightwish, Enzoeno, Jeff Buckley, System of a Down, classical stuff like Brahms and Bruckner's mass (in F minor I think), lots of great stuff Movies- Leon the Professional, Sense and Sensibility starring Kate Winslet and Emma Thompson, I don't watch a lot of movies as I am a great deal more interested in documentaries and features; Books- The landscape of Stalinism (an anthology), Paris as Revolution, The Painting of Modern Life by T.J. Clark, various books about psychology, neuroscience and physiology, Lord Goldsmith's lectures in printed form and I will read everything that I can read of S Raeburn's works- the writer based in Glasgow Paper(s): 'From Moll Flanders to Tess of the D'Urbervilles: Women, Autonomy and Criminal Responsibility in Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century England' by Nicola Lacey, LSE Papers 2007

One Amazing Thing I've Done

drinking coffee with Right Honourable Stephen Timms MP til 10:05pm and wondering if I should put this minister to bed. He's adorable by the way. Other than that, giving so much help to sufferers of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Teach, Learn, Share

public relations- what a press release should look like once it's written up; Chinese Feng Shui can really help you! procedures for obtaining the UK Counter-Terrorism Clearance; clinical neuroscience; how to persuade (British) politicians into submitting an Early Day Motion; some fine art and singing; how to get a free lawyer; what the newspapers DON'T tell you that you really need to know; I'd love to learn car maintenance stuff and Latin!

Countries I've Visited

China, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I've Lived In

China
