About Me

I'm a freelance designer and animator working for the likes of Perrier and MTV. I'm a recent graduate of Bennington College where I studied visual art. I grew up traveling a lot and the freedom to continue to do so was a big influence on my career path. I'm lucky enough to be able to do my work from anywhere in the world and I would like to take advantage by doing just that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had my first experience couchsurfing when I was 11. Traveling through South East Asia and Europe with my single mother on zero budget.
(wrote a bit about that here: https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/riahm/as_requested_iama_boy_who_traveled_with_a_broke/)

Anyways, we met so many amazing people and really got to experience the places we visited. After experiencing couchsurfing I can't imagine a better way to travel.

Interests

I make lots of art and work with lots of interesting people on different kinds of projects so my interests are pretty varied.

  • architecture
  • design
  • music festivals
  • dancing
  • technology
  • live music
  • people
  • conversation
  • games
  • sculpture
  • food!

Music, Movies, and Books

Tame Impala is one of my favorite current bands. I also love all things jazz. Hip hop is wonderful when it is done well. I can get into most music if it is of a high enough quality.

Movies are great!
I really like Kubrick and Nolan. Lord of the Rings will always be close to my heart. Basically any Disney or Ghibli movie, but then again i'm a bit biased as animator...

I really need to read more. Some old favorites: Stranger in a Strange Land. The Stand. His Dark Materials. On the Road (is that too cliche?).
Just finished Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Really really like Bukowski. Ray Bradburry is great. I always love me some slow thoughtful science fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw the sunset over the himalayas.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love chess. I can teach you how to waltz... I can talk about design and art all day. I have a lot of experience working on various creative projects and am always interested in more. Always happy to give input when I can. Likewise I'm always interested in picking up new skills and learning new disciplines.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook pretty well as long as there's olive oil around.
