About Me

To Have Fun!

I love new people. I guess this is one reason I enjoy travelling so much and hosting guests. If I could throw a party without having to worry about cleaning up I would probably do it every weekend (oh wait, then again, I do... almost). I work pretty hard during the week but in my free time I like to go out to parties with my crew of great, open, free-spirited friends, go to the beach, go skiing, host parties, travel. I go to BURNING MAN every year, which is just simply fabulous. I've been living in New York for 13 years now, originally from the north of England. I've been trying to hold on to that northern working-class accent of mine.

In life you get what you look for. If you're looking for trouble, you'll find it. If you expect bad things to happen or for stuff to go wrong, stuff will go wrong. However, if you embrace positivity in your life, you'll get back so much love and peace and energy from the people you encounter that you won't know what to do with it all.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

I host friends and couchsurfing travellers from time to time. I have a big house, so there's always plenty of space. And there is no shortage of fun events going on and parties in the Burner scene and in the various other subcultures of New York City. I like to introduce my guests to these scenes (if they don't know about them already!)

I've stayed with some wonderful beautiful fabulous people (Onder in Istanbul springs to mind.. thank you Onder!) and I've met other couchsurfers for coffee or a drink in various places when travelling.

Music, parties, making new friends, being crazy, what else is there? Ok just kidding. I'm actually also seriously into history, art, film, socioeconomic discussions, feminism, human relationships. And I take my work very seriously (luckily, I enjoy it, and I'm fortunate to work with great people).

Music, Movies & Books

Love Actually because it's so ridiculous but a very happy movie. I loved the Aviator because I love movies about people's lives. Secretary, because so many people I know can identify with it, Shortbus, for the same reason. Oh, I love the TV Show Mad Men, I liked the first season of The Walking Dead, and I really like Boardwalk Empire. I watch all these on Netflix, because I don't have TV service at my house (I don't watch enough TV to justify it!)

One Amazing Thing I've Done

In Morocco, I drove off-road into the Sahara Desert in a Fiat Uno, and stayed in a tent at a remote village.
