HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

we hosted a surfer in early June 2009 - my housemate Kendra set it up and told me about this site.
but for years we've always been houseguest-friendly: we have a futon on the back porch and have even had campers in the back yard. oh, and we have a couch ;-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

unorganized couchsurfing: a lot of hosting, and the occasional surf myself with friends while travelling.
organized Couchsurfing: so far we've hosted only guy and a couple girls and it's been cool. in 2009 i Couchsurfed with a cool gal near Boston, last minute even!

兴趣

i like riding my motorbike and bicycle, camping, reading and watching some tv. i dig music - listening at home or a show. i also play the flute and am infrequently trying to learn guitar.
i enjoy travelling, and have found that the less money i have, the more adventures i have. it is most cool to have re-affirmed to me that all over, people are just doing their thing, just like me, and like to do right by each other. gives me hope when sometimes positive global change seems unlikely.

currently re-reading Robert Pirsig's _Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance_. Salinger's _The Catcher in the Rye_ and _Franny and Zooey_ are favorite reads; a copy of _The Catcher in the Rye_ is even in my earthquake kit! William Gibson's _Neuromancer_, _Count Zero_, and _Mona Lisa Overdrive_ are good, and i can always re-read Douglas Adam's _The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy_.

music
U2, Spiritualized, DJ Qbert, Chuck Mangione (feels so good), and Del tha Funky Homosapien are a good music short list.

movies
i've watched "The Big Lebowski". a lot. and "Shaun of the Dead" is the bestest zombie romantic comedy i've ever seen! ooh, and i can't leave out "Cool Hand Luke".

the year 2000, in Arizona, near the California border...
me lying on the hood of my car, a lightning storm on the southern horizon and the Perseid meteor shower directly above. made me feel insignificant before nature and under the heavens, and incredibly glad to be alive.
