Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Widening my horizons and making new friends!
ABOUT ME
Friendly, outgoing, nature-loving treehugger. Market-research by day, animal activist always. Wanderer, traveler, reader, writer, aunt, sister, etc. Most of all, easy-going person who enjoys meeting other people and learning more about how we all make the world go around!
PHILOSOPHY
Live and let live...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am new to this... I signed up more than a year ago but am finally getting around to trying to become a traveler and a host. Have couch, will travel... something like that!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None on CS yet, but I've traveled solo around Europe and the US and have done the hostel and train-sleeping thing, and met an awful lot of great people that way. I love being exposed to different cultures and experiences.
Interests
Travel, photography, nature, swamp-walking (yes: I do live in the Everglades!), working to protect endangered Florida panthers, kayaking, being a Parrothead, animals - love almost all of them, but have cats. Yes, I'm a cat person. No, I'm not an insane cat person... I have 3, and that's my limit. (But that doesn't mean that if I ever won the lottery, I wouldn't end up with a little house on a lot of land, and a shelter for dogs/cats/guinea pigs, etc!)

Music, Movies, and Books
Reading: Mystery stuff, some silly, some serious, almost all Florida based: Tim Dorsey, Carl Hiaasen, Harlan Coben, Randy-Wayne White, Jonathon King, Tom Corcoran
Music: Buffett, Kimbrough, Jackson Browne, Keb' Mo', Rolling Stones, Tom Petty
Movies: things that make me laugh, for the most part
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been really fortunate with some things:
- swimming with manatees
- swimming with dolphins
- wandering through chest-deep water in the Everglades, looking for ghost orchids
- visited mountain tops in Norway and Switzerland that seemed to overlook the whole world... they put you in your place about how small we can be in the grand scheme of things!
And not so fortunate with others:
- I once saw a helicopter blow up
Teach, Learn, Share
Florida Panthers (the species of puma, not the hockey players!) are one of the most endangered, but overlooked, mammals on the planet. You can help! Visit www.floridapanther.org to learn more. Or contact me... I can probably shed some light, and direct you to places in the Everglades that you'd enjoy - while you follow in the footsteps of panthers!
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, Finland, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom
Countries I’ve Lived In
