ABOUT ME

I am bookish, scholarly. I have no problem with "alone time" because I have such a backlog of great books I want to read in this life-time. On the other hand I greatly value my three or four good buddies and have been willing to devote a lot of time and expense to travel (mainly to California) to have holidays with them. Locally I have a long track record a volunteer with both a nature center and a hospice group, and working professionally in psych hospitals. For exercise I enjoy biking, swimming, and tennis.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Brand new member. I intend of participate vigorously but this feels like "unknown territory" for now. I really would like to meet some my local CS'ers for easy socializing so as to get a feel for the organization.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet with CS, however I have had similar guest experiences as a Servas member, with stays in Switzerland and Italy.

Music, Movies, and Books

Mostly enjoy classical, esp. vocal. I like movies that tell me something I don't know about other cultures, or my own society in other historical periods. AS for books, I like ones on European history.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have followed int'l politics in the past, and a letter to the Washington Post and to the State Department provided an element in the phase-out of the Cold War in 1989-90.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy bicycling in small groups, and would be glad to include newcomers in my regular monthly north side ride. I am good at fixing flat tires, and have been able to show people how to fix there own.

I think I would like to learn some new dance steps. A few times in the past I have enjoyed dancing, but I lack confidence, esp. in the role of leading a partner.
