ABOUT ME

We're two students generally enjoying life at the moment - we love being at uni, having fun and learning; we also love traveling, meeting new people, experiencing new things.
Xiaowei - clearly we're not much at introductions, you'll have to meet us and see. :)

PHILOSOPHY

Chris - My aims in life are to be happy, to achieve things that I'm proud of, and hopefully to try and make the world a better place.
I think that to be happy, you have to do things that you enjoy, but also that you think are worth doing.
Xiaowei - I love a line in Before Sunrise which goes something like: if there's any kind of God it wouldn't be in you or me, but in the space between two people. I want to meet real people, make real connections.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have only just joined, but later, we want to meet people who are travelling near where we live and show them around. When we move out of student accomodation, we'd also like to host some couch surfers.

Interests

Chris - I'm interested in reading, travelling, outdoor activities like hill walking, philosophy (I study this at University), playing some sports (I like table tennis, badminton, squash and football), doing journalism, and talking about life and about ideas.
Xiaowei - Reading, dancing, picnicking, playing makeshift scrabble on trains, talking about anything at all

Music, Movies, and Books

Chris - I like lots of books, both fact and fiction. I like reading about loads of different subjects, like history, physics, philosophy, travel, biology.
I also really like novels. the last book I read was 'all quiet on the western front', which I thought was amazing.
Xiaowei - I go into a trance when I listen to Dylan, love dancing to Wisin & Yandel, chill out to Bo Kaspers, Sufjan Stevens, Rufus Wainwright... Favourite films include Before Sunset, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Jeux d'enfants. The most meaningful book I've ever read is The Unbearable Lightness of Being; other favourites include Slaughterhouse 5 and The World According to Garp.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Chris - ridden on a camel in the sahara. I thought the desert would be interesting, but it turned out to be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
Xiaowei - Smoked shisha, picnicked and danced with a massive Lebanese family in the Qadisha valley.
