About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to connect to the most diverse amount of people possible by sharing, living and learning from them/connectar con la cantidad mas diversa de gente del mundo por compartir, convivir, y aprender con/de ellos
ABOUT ME
After a two year stint studying, working in development and then dancing in Ecuador, I've been back in the states living as a freelance dancer in nYC since december 2010.
I think I am defined by my experiences and my activities. As long as I meet people in a place I will want to go back.
I was born in Maine, but grew up in Peoria, IL. Spent all my time dancing (ballet, modern) and plotting to get to a bigger city. College took me to NYC, which I love for its diversity of people, arts and activities, and sensible public transit.
But I have a special deep connection to the Amazon region of Ecuador, having lived and worked with the people in a tiny rural riverside village there. So I am not all about cities, because I think that any lifestyle that is different from my own is worth learning, understanding. I have adopted Ecuador as my second home/culture.Other places that I want to revisit: Venezuela (estado zulia!), Guatemala (Antigua, San Mateo de Milpas Alpas)
I am a modern dancer, but will happily learn any form of dance that moves! I love languages and children and would like to facilitate cultural exchange whether that's through art, education, travel or translation.
My other desire on CS is to reciprocate the amazingly kind and generous treatment I've had pretty much uniformly by friends and aqcuaintances and strangers (cs!) throughout my travels. I think that here in the states we don't have quite the same idea about the privelege of a visit, but I'm trying to change that and to remember to give in the same way I've received.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
ashamed to say i mostly use CS when I'm abroad and need to meet locals. usually for coffee/drink not couches since I can't reciprocate couches, yet! in nyc. hopefully soon i'll have a surfable place.
