ABOUT ME

We are two Writing Students in our third year at Dartington College of Arts. We started our own small press at the beginning of this year. We are about to embark on our independent research project across the United Kingdom in our little red van with our Adana Printing Press in the back. We will be using traditional letterpress to make a book to bind our time into during the project. This project is about people and places, what and who we meet will be influence the content of the book, which when printed will be sent back to the people who participated in it.

PHILOSOPHY

We want to go everywhere! We want to run up and down this country and tell stories and write stories and be told stories. We believe in sharing and swapping and dancing. We like to make books so we can share our perfect sentences from our travels with the world.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Alex has surfed and hosted before in the past. This project is based on exchange. The idea being that each page comes from something shared with the person or place we stayed at/with. We like to think that we are building community by traveling and bringing people together in the pages bound together. We wanted to use couch-surf to give a wider spectrum, so we go further than friends, and friends of friends... into the unknown.

Once we were invited to read and sell our wears at an exhibition by Teresa Grimaldi on the Isle of Wight...We see alot of amazing things at Dartington.

Jo can crotchet, Alex can drive... We can write and print and we'd love to show you, or maybe you can join us? Alex loves to bake cakes and make stews, Jo loves to make clothes and potions that smell nice. We love learning about places, about plants, engines, and books amongst other things!
