ABOUT ME

I'm pretty laid back. I really like music, it's basically all I ever do, since I don't have a job or anything. I play the piano, bass, guitar, and mess around with other stuff. I've only had classical training in piano, but I like them all for different reasons. I'm pretty shy, and trying to be a little more assertive, but if you get me in a one on one conversation I can usually loosen up a bit. I'm into horticulture/permaculture. My dream is to someday build a completely self sufficient recording studio in the middle of the woods where bands can come and live with you and record an album. I'm slowly working on accumulating the knowledge for this kinda thing. The money will be the hard part.

PHILOSOPHY

There are a lot of things I don't know and haven't seen so I feel like my philosophy is very incomplete. I try to live by the golden rule, and usually feel a strong sense of responsibility to help people. I kind of like taoist views, as far as a balance/chi flow goes. I have no idea what happens when we die and I think at this age that's the way it should be. I hope to find out more about myself and my views in my traveling. When you can convince yourself that you don't really know anything you can better see things from different angles and then decide what is the truth, if there's such a thing.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

so far, try to find people to meet and places to rest my head. when I get back to good ole oregon, I'll be happy to do the same for others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

so far, I haven't used cs for a place to stay. however, when I was in san diego I used it to meet this guy who looked pretty cool, and ended up being an awesome harmonica player and we jammed and hung out and had a good time. but so far that's it. I plan to use it much more in the very near future.

Intereses

I have ADD they say, but not the hyperactive kind. so instead of my body running around like crazy, my mind runs around like crazy and gets distracted. so, I'm really interested in alot of things, but not really dedicated or active about much, except music.

Music- Pink Floyd, Wilco, The Decemberists, Muse, Andrew Bird, The Shins, Blue Scholars, Gorillaz, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Dandy Warhols, Matt Costa, Atmosphere. I like alternative, blues, jazz, classic rock, indie hip hop, pretty much anything but modern country, straight up gansta rap, and like hardcore screamy stuff.

Movies- Dig!, Mel Brooks stuff, The Beatles' movies, Finding Forester.

Books- Fahrenheit 451, Cannery Row, Sweet Thursday, 1984, Kite Runner. Mostly older stuff.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I don't think I have much to teach, but I have a lot to learn. I tend to be an observer, and usually I feel like I understand where people are coming from even if I haven't experienced anything like it. If I can teach anything, I think it would be something the learner has to find for themselves in me. I'm pretty passive in almost every sense, including "teaching".

and I can always teach a little music, but probably not very successfully.
