About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Chasing the Dream...

ABOUT ME

Born and raised in a suburb of the Greater Toronto area- which is a continuously growing mosaic of cultures filled with immigrants from every corner of the world, I started becoming fascinated with culture when I began studying at the University of Toronto, a very diverse school. I continue to have an interest in learning and experiencing cultures, and look to do so through travel and meeting new people!

PHILOSOPHY

A bit of a loaded question - and something I'm still trying to figure out, but I'll try to be frank here...

I guess live your life for yourself, not to please and especially not prove your worthiness to others, because the heart wants what it wants. I think a lot of people forget that, and at the end of the day, when they realize no one is really looking or caring they're left thinking 'Damn was it really worth it?'.

On the other end of this, I'm also a firm believer in the 'live and let live' mentality. There are many lifestyles and choices that I don't fully understand, and would not personally partake in myself, but rather than accuse and alienate which will inevitably push people away, I try my best to accept and understand.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well as a new member to this community, I haven't yet established myself, but for now as a traveler, I'll mostly be participating as a surfer who will regale his hosts with funny jokes and stories, and attempt to relate to new people by comparing and relating differences in lifestyle, food and culture.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet, but looking to change this soon!

Interests

Music - I spend a good part of every day listening to music. Whether that be in the car, in the gym, or while doing my everyday tasks, music is a heavy interest of mine. I'm NOT a music snob though! I listen to a lot of varied styles, and when it comes to personal preferences I'm of the 'live and let live' mentality

Cooking - Yes I genuinely enjoy cooking! What started as a task of necessity grew into a hobby.

Eating - Of course as an extension of cooking I must enjoy eating! I enjoy all styles of cuisine, especially spicy (HOT) food, however I'm not a big seafood person...

Staying Active - I've never been a 'sporty' person - growing up I was the kid afraid of the ball, but I do try to live a healthy lifestyle! I enjoy going to the gym, riding bikes and rock climbing.

Learning new things - History, Science, Culture business, I enjoy learning new things. I've spent far too many hours wiki-surfing my weeknights away!

Laughing and smiling - A good story, a good joke, or just 'palling around' with good people, I love a good laugh.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - I don't think I could name any specific favorites or even specific genres. I like movies that are GOOD, which can be subjective to an underlying theme, or any sort of combination of excellent story line, acting, great directing, etc.

Music - Back in high school I was on a strict punk rock and that whole subgenre (metal, emo, scream) diet, but since then I've diversified the type of stuff I listen to. I play a couple instruments, and am always listening for new and interesting melodies and rhythms in music, so I mostly listen to the 'rock' music genre (guitars, drums, bass), but I also listen to some techno/house. Lately, I've been listening to either a selection of more modern funk like Jamiroquai or a local AMAZING Toronto band called KC roberts and the live revolution, or various electronic dance music (I'll listen to pete tong on bbc radio 1).

Books - I don't read too much, but when I pick up a book, it's usually some sort of award winning (so I know its good) fictional book.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I'm a decent cook. I mostly cook asian foods at home, but I do understand some of the fundamentals of food sciences, and how different spices and food types will mix and interact with heat. If we find the ingredients and the cookware, I can try to make you something tasty.
