oy vey, living the life as if it would have some sense. a thing we all can and should do, i think. and be thankful that we have it.

PHILOSOPHY

croatians say "po lako", something like "go easy". a good heuristic attitude for many situations. bad if this is the entire life philosophy. bad from my point of view, of course, whatever that means.

兴趣

sailing, playing the violin, drawing, talking about languages and people, and the problems with the latter two, travelling, reading, dreaming. dreaming again.

i hate these questions. but still, to give you an idea of what i like.

kobo abe, franz kafka, sartre, marquez, pessoa, bulgakov, joyce, yehuda amichai, alexander blok are extremely good writers/poets in my view.

hiroshima mon amour, antonioni's l'avventura, tarkovski's nostalgia, bergman's wild strawberries are things that i consider as the highest level of cinematographic art.

should be enough for an idea about my esthetic preferences.

i don't think there is much i can teach you. some funny stuff about how funny our languages are. or some funny stuff about how we can formalize them. yes, i can talk about finnish morphology, about whether moral norms are totally socially determined, about emigration and nationalism, about many things in fact for hours. and i love people that get excited about such conversations too. btw, i can teach you the lambda-notation in semantics, but i'm not sure you will appreciate it.
