About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be a Badass B-Boy Two Triple O, a space hiphop superhero!

ABOUT ME

The first thing you'll probably notice about me, is that I'm really tall. I can never stop moving around, which has only been exacerbated by spending the last seven years dancing all the time (I try to exacerbate daily). I'm also incredibly funny, though not everyone has the good grace to realize this and laugh appropriately

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Mostly hosted surfers so far in Aberdeen, Scotland, which has always been a good experience. I've been travelling fulltime for the last year and a half, mostly through my network of dancers, so not as much with CS (although shout out to my hermano Sergio, who I love)

Interests

I've spent the last few years travelling for Blues and Lindy Hop dancing, so I'm mostly listening to Blues and swing Jazz. I've got a wide taste aside from that, from Hip-hop and soul, to Mongolian throat-singing, electronics, but I DJ for dance events so I'm mostly looking for new Blues all the time.

I'm also interested in how systemic power structures affect inequalities. I'm a young huge white dude, so there are a large number of things I don't need to think about in terms of my own safety, and things I'll never know about unless I talk to people different from myself. So... Sexism and racism and ableism are a bunch of bullshit, and the world will be better if we work together to dismantle structures that oppress people simply for how they were born

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies I like: Too many to list; but some are Donnie Darko, The Fountain, Survive Style 5+, The Ballad of Jack and Rose, Wild Zero, Manic, The Proposition, Black Dynamite, almost anything by Jim Jarmusch, Guillermo Del Toro, Quentin Tarentino, the Coen brothers, and anything with Edward Norton, Tadanobu Asano, Gary Oldman, John Cusack, Viggo Peter Mortensen, and Julianne Moore in it. This is clearly not a comprehensive list though :)

I like a pretty wide range of music (anything from early 90's house to mid 90's techno :P), anything good really, rock/blues/jazz/hip-hop/electronic/classical/klezmer/etc.

I mostly read online blogs and articles these days, but my favorite books right now are still the 5+ year reigning champions: Hopscotch, Three Trapped Tigers, and Anathem. Although I've finally gotten my ereader to work so this list should expand. Plenty more good stuff out there, though I mostly read fiction. Anyone have any good non-fiction reccomendations?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Made friends

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm sure there's more I probably could do/share, but what immediately comes to mind:
I teach Blues dance and Lindy Hop, and would be happy to give my hosts a taster lesson/take them along to a local dancing scene
I'm a hobbyist masseuse (I guess?), no formal training, but I enjoy giving massages and am always interested in learning more
And I've got a couple of tasty vegan recipes to share :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

The stuff I mentioned above? Good conversation, high fives, long walks on the beach
