About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet the real people who live in South America and learn and share new exciting experiences

ABOUT ME

Hello,

I am 25 and recenlty travelling around South America for 6 months.

I am travelling with my best friend Bruno Tavares who is from Portugal. We lived and worked in Manchester for 4 years and have decided to explore south america together and live out a dream we both have.

Our rouigh itinerary is:
Nov - Columbia
Dec - Peru
Jan - Bolivia
Feb - Brazil
March - Paraguay
March - Argentina
April - Chile

This is the first time I have evry travelled and I´m really emjoying the escape from the busy life I had at home. This trip has been inspried by the amazing landscapes, cultures and friendlyness of the people we hear so mcuh about in the UK.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a very open person and love to learn about people and there lifestyles. I am personally not religious but have no predudice to anyone who is. Variety is the spice of life!
I have been looking forward to travelling for many years and have worked hard to save up - so I can travel the world, open my eyes and enjoy new experiences. I try to think on the positve at all times and feel I am very practical when faced with difficult situations.
I think the more you put into life the more you get out of it.
I am very excited to be travelling in South America and I´m sure my new expereinces will stay with me forever.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Myself and Bruno actually have hosted people in Manchester but not through couch surfing. We only discovered this site since we have been travelling which is funny as we practically offered a hosting service to people in Manchester. We had a large flat in the city centre and had a spare room so we often let friends/people stay with us. This included people from Los Angeles, Greece, South Africa and Columbia.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet :( but as mentioned above we have hosted many people in Manchester independantly.
Since our journey began we have stayed with 3 families. This included Bogota and Pasto in Columbia and Lima in Peru. So far these experiences have been the best as we have been able to see how the local people live. It is a nice change to meet local people rather than socialise with backpackers in hostels.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have just read the Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, also The motorcycle diary´s.

I like books by Jacqueline Susann - in particluar ´Valley of the Dolls´.

My favourite author is Malcome Gladwell´- ´The Tipping Piont´which discusses urban physcology.

In terms of music - i am very random - i actually enjoy most genres. It´s nice to hear different music to the chart music back in Uk which gets over played.
I love the Bealtes too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently - the ´Lost City´treck in Columbia which was the most amazing thing I have ever done.

Other things that come close will be organising an event that went LIVE on BBC television in the UK.
The most interesting places apart from South America I have seen are New York, and Morocco. Totally opposite but both so busy and chaotic!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have good organisational skills which I have developed in my event management proffession. Everyone loves a good party and I hope to exchange things I have learned along the way.

I have a huge passion for cooking too so would be interested in swapping recipes (which I have done in Lima with our host family already!) - and I also need to improve on my spanish and welcome anyone who wants to better their English!
