Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I went to Peru in '01, I met a local lady flying from Lima to Cuzco who was returning to Cuzco, her home. Her husband was picking her up at the airport. They asked me to ride to town with them and have some tea so they could help me select a hotel in a safe place in town. When reviewing the places in travel guide, I noticed a phone number for those that wanted to stay with families. The wife said, "well if you want to stay with a family, stay with us!" So they moved their daughter to the couch and gave me her bedroom, gave me a key to the house and I used their house as a base while I roamed the country. Talk about hospitality! I asked if they took in strangers often, and they said i was the first. Lucky me!
