About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travelling! We raise our kid to be a cosmopolitan.
ABOUT ME
We are a family of three on a paternity leave. Volker is 34, Alex is 33 and Emil will be two in December 2009.
We are currently travelling for 12 months. We started in June 2009, went to the US for two months (had a motorhome and went to most of the National Parks in the western part), then two weeks on Rarotonga, now we are in NZ since mid August and just arrived on South Island (late November). Most of the time in NZ we are sleeping in our tent, we also bought a van for getting around. Beginning of May we will move on to Fiji for three weeks and then we're going home again - and can host someone afterwards :)
PHILOSOPHY
The bad thing about a rat race is that even if you win you are still a rat. (Quote from unknown)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We are travelling at the moment but are planning to offer our couch in Leonberg once we get back home in mid 2010.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have always done couchsurfing, just without this platform. There were countless invitations from us to others which we met on our journeys all over the world, and we were always happy to stay at someones place in return. We know that you cant beat a local when it comes to advise and must-see recommendations. We know all the hidden beauties you would not expect in our hometown Leonberg when you just passed through...
Interests
Travelling, meeting new people, getting to know other cultures and lifestyles, having a decent beer, reading, music. So much for the obvious.
Besides Alex is into birdwatching and makes her own clothes every now and then. We both love to go on hikes so we keep doing it even with Emil as some extra weight on our backs. Volker spends as much time in the wilderness and mountains as he can, prefering to go on challenging trips by himself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Giving it all up when our son was born is still quite an amazing thing to do. And regaining some strength afterwards to start it all over again in a different way just as well.
