ABOUT ME

Aussie chick with hair in braids and a tendency to dress like a gypsy. I've been based in the UK for almost two years have have been awestruck by some of the things i've seen in the UK- bulidings that are older than 200 years, Rolf Harris at Will and Kate's wedding (got my photo to prove!), M&S's prepared food isles, and just Edinburgh- most awesome city ever!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed with Gem on my first couch surfing experience. It was awesome. She even let me cook in her kitchen!!! I've known Gem since high school so couch surfing with her was lovely and gave us a lovely time to catch up. Thanks Gem!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Midnight ascent. You leave the relative warmth of your tent, wearing every possible item of clothing you possess in Kilimanjaro National Park. Its cold, bitterly cold. Two pairs of thermal socks and I still cannot feel my feet. You trek, and maybe its a good thing that you cannot see the peak, or know how far you have left to climb. Keep the focus on your small circle of light radiating from your head torch. Keep the focus on putting one foot in front of the other.

All you can see are small lights making their way up this big black hill. And if you turn around, you see the lights of Moshi, burning brightly as little spots way down in the distance.

At the last hill, as the dawn breaks, i ask Alen, my guide to hold my hand as we climb the last of Stella Point. Not for a pull up, but as guidence, and strength for the last of the climb. Exhausted, i am at Stella Point.

"Turn around, turn around" came Alen's anxious call. I blink, summon the last of my fleeting engery and turn. What i see made the midnight climb all worth every step. The sun is just starting to appear over the edge, and here i am sitting on the rim of Kilimanjaro's crater watching it.
