ABOUT ME
That's the ultimate question, right ? Who am I ? :)I recently came back from almost two years of travelling. It changed me a lot, for the better I hope. I am the kind of guy who does not really care about material things or money. I value wisdom much more, and I think this reflects how I live and how I plan to live my life.I usually do not drink alcohol, but I really don't mind if you do and I still like going to bars and places where we can chill, talk and have fun. Not really a fan of nightclubs though.I am also vegetarian, and once again I will not be offended at all if you eat meat with me, but be aware that if I host and we eat at my place, it will be a vegetarian meal (you can buy some meat and add it to your part of the meal if you want though, that's also totally cool). When I travel I tend to have more lax restrictions, because I am aware it's a bit complicated and if I am surfing and there is no easy way of doing this then it's completely fine (when I travel, I'm more of a "flexitarian" than a vegetarian :)). (I just say these things straight away because sometimes people are really surprised when they learn this, so yeah.)I am currently going to university, I am studying Linguistics and World Religions. I really enjoy both programs and when I finish my bachelor's I will probably go teach English somewhere in Asia for a while (that's the plan for now anyway). Then, we'll see, I trust life.
PHILOSOPHY
As a result of the many experiences I did while traveling (living in a monastery in Nepal, doing a pilgrimage and living in a Zen temple in Japan), what first started as a passing interest in Buddhism became stronger and stronger, and now it is definitely influencing the way I live (that's my "spiritual" side :) ).
I guess my personal philosophy is to try to treat everyone like they are an old friend. It's not always easy, but I try as hard as I can.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have used CS a few times in Japan and Germany, and I have also hosted a few times, both in my hometown and Montreal (where I study). They were all great experiences, no exceptions !
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In a ideal world, everyone would be a host. I sincerely think the whole world would get along better this way.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I walked a 1200 km pilgrimage in Japan. It took 40 days and I met wonderful people and have witnessed countless acts of selflessness and generosity. Definitely a life-changing experience...
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm really interested in language (both learning new languages, and language in general), and I'm also very interested in religions (hence my double major in Linguistics/World Religions). So if for some reason you always wanted to learn more about these topics we can definitely talk about it.
Also, one thing that I've done that might be of interest to people is my 9-month trip to Japan, in which I have only slept in a tent (in public parks) and hitchhiked all over. When I tell people this they usually want to know more and I am very eager to share this knowledge and I keep trying to push people into doing it because it's such a great way of travelling and it completely changed my outlook on life. Even though it might sound daunting, it is in fact very very easy to accomplish, and in my opinion much more rewarding than regular "youth hostel" travel, not to mention tons cheaper! I even wrote an entire wikitravel article about it so people would be encouraged to try it out. ("Urban Camping in Japan").
