About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Bailar la conchita!

ABOUT ME

Estoy a punto de cambiar careras, y de regresar a los EEUU. Por eso estoy en un gran momento de cambio, que me da muchas ganas de explorar y mantener la mente bien abierta!

PHILOSOPHY

Ride bikes, even if everyone around looks at you like you are a crazy gringa.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Todos mis más queridos amigos en Monterrey son del Couch...es un grupo bien chido. We hang out, go on trips together, and generally enjoy each others' company. They are currently trying to teach me how to stay up until 7 in the morning and then go out to tacos, al estilo Mexicano. Algún día lo lograre!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My CS experience is a mainly with the super active group here in Monterrey. There's a weekly meeting, parties, trips, cultural events, etc. It's great!

Interests

Into languages (hablando y escribiendo pocho), books, good movies, good food and all that involves the outdoors, especially riding bikes, running, hiking, backpacking, skiing and cross-country skiing, climbing mountains, and gardening. I hate run-on sentences, although I just wrote one. Reading, music, salsa and flamenco dancing, etc, etc. Oh yeah. And laughing (a lot).

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I love the Mexican short story genre (not just because they're short), especially Juan Jose Arreola. Also loved La Lacuna, What is the What, The God of Small Things, Animal Vegetable Miracle, Son of Soloman, The Milagro Beanfield War (hilarious), Daughter of Fortune, Graceland, La Veinas Abiertas de America Latina (Hugo Chavez's gift to Obama, a must-read).

Music: Calle 13, Mexican Institute of Sound, Nortec Collective, MIA, Neutral Milk Hotel, Avett Brothers, Devil Makes Three, Rural Alberta Advantage, Crystal Castles, Mountain Goats, Shakira, (those last 2 are a funny juxtaposition)

Movies: Waltz with Bashir, Vitus, American Beauty uh, that's all I remember

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing Thing Experienced: Last Friday's Pajama party in my classroom. You would not believe how cool it is (for a ten year old) to wear pajamas to school. It's pretty much the most fun thing that could ever happen!

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to salsa, so I'd be happy to teach some moves to anyone who is interested (and also not that good already). I know some about the salsa scene in Monterrey for those who are visiting. Also, I make amazing crepes.

Countries I’ve Visited
