About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To cycle Europe (bits of it, at least)
ABOUT ME
I've just embarked on a cycling trip around southern, eastern and centra Europe - starting in Casserta in Italy and leaving Italy by boat from Brindisi in Puglia. My next stops are Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany and Belgium... unless I get distracted and change my route mid-way through...
PHILOSOPHY
Well this is changing a lot at the moment as I've just given up a secure full-time job to travel round Europe with little idea of where I'll be a few days into the future. I think this trip is about discovering what my philosophy really should be, rather than trying to fit in to the 'real world' dynamics that I've just left. I try to give as much as I recieve (I'll have a lot to repay after this trip!) and to be fair in my approach to life and other people.
I think it's too easy to say 'live for the day' without really knowing what it means, I like a little balance in the way that I live and plan my life! Although a bit of spontinaity is always good ;-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm currently being very single minded in my participation - but hopefully as a guest travelling across Europe I'm able to give a little something back too, with stories and experiences to share with each of my hosts! I really hope to be able to do more 'giving back' when I'm back in the UK with a place to live in and welcome surfers.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've recently begun staying with people via couch sufing websites and have really enjoyed the shared enthusiasm for the project and the act of travelling that I've had with all my lovely hosts. I'm discovering so much more about each place that I stay through meeting CS people, and loving the shared experience! I've found that people are so generous with their time, resources and energy. It is a truly eye-opening experience.
Interests
Cycling (obviously!), travelling to new places and meeting people, cooking, architecture, places and buildings, hands-on activities - I hope to do volunteer building work on sustainable and community projects once I've finished my cycle tour.

Music, Movies, and Books
So much to cover here! I'm really interested in stories that change or challenge my current perspective on life, that drag me in to a new world and make me see life from a different perspective. I've recently read two post-apocolyptic stores that really got me thinking, but generally I prefer a good mix of fact / fiction and thought provoking work..
I like a lot of music but am not a crazy fan of any one genre - and I'm never any good at reeling off a list of favourite artists on demand! It's the same with films really - if you name a film I've seen I'll give you my opinion though...
Teach, Learn, Share
We never stop learning, everything we experience becomes part of our conscious in some way - teaching and sharing experiences is all part of that cycle. This is the best thing about couch surfing!
