About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Learn something new every day, and try not to sweat the small stuff.
ABOUT ME
I've had incredible experiences backing around the world in years past, but have somehow settled back home in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I still love to travel, but it is limited to weekend getaways and a few holidays per year.
I'm now dating a Spaniard so at least one trip to northern Spain per year will be in the calendar. I have always loved cooking, and I freelance writing about food, mainly because I love to eat and talk about it. I also organize food events in my city which is great - because I am Celiac and working with chefs to create an event means they always make me a special gluten-free meal. As much as I enjoy dining out, I love cooking for friends and family.
I love playing and watching sports. I'm a stereotypical Canadian who loves hockey and even couchsurfed in Slovakia while I was taking in the Worlds.
PHILOSOPHY
I don't just want to live my life... I want to love my life.
also... people who snore shouldn't be allowed in dorm rooms.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I first hosted when I was volunteering in Swaziland, and then later that year started surfing as I backpacked through Eastern Europe.
Been back home for a few years now but did not always have a couch to offer surfers, but have been known to show a traveler or two around Edmonton. (which always involves the best places to eat)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I surfed for the first time in Bratislava - came to watch the IIHF worlds ice hockey event. Canada lost in the quarter-finals to Russia, but I've had an amazing time with my first CS host. I hope she will come visit me one day in Canada, in the meantime we continue to post Slovakian-Hockey info back and forth on fb.
Interests
Hockey - I am a true blue Canadian
Travel - obviously. I love to go places, but also to talk with people about the places they have been.
Food - I love to cook, I write part time for a paper doing food reviews and food features. When I am back in Canada I love cooking for friends and while I am travelling I love trying local foods and taking cooking classes.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love going to the movie theatre - but it must include a large popcorn with layered butter.
I'm not your sit in a pub and drink girl, if I hear music I usually want to dance.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I made the summit of Cotopaxi in Ecuador, one of the highest active volcanoes in the world... and higher than Kilimanjaro, and then I vomited the entire way down.
Teach, Learn, Share
I let a guy couchsurf at my place when I was volunteering in Swaziland. He was a photographer and used old-school film. I said - that must be expensive.
He proceeded to tell me that he stole it.
I told him - maybe you shouldn't tell me about the things you steal after I left you unattended in our apartment for 8 hours. He said - isn't it more important that I am honest. Very nice guy - honest and hilarious.
What I Can Share with Hosts
It has been awhile since I surfed, but I always like to show my appreciation with food. I made several meals for hosts along my travels.
I can also talk your ear off - so if you like to hear stories - I am your girl.
