I'm new here, so I'm just getting oriented at the moment...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hello all,

I am traveling around Australia at the moment on a working holiday after having just completed my studies in art therapy. I must say, I am thoroughly charmed by what I have experienced and seen so far!

Meeting the international crowd in backpacker hostels has been great, but it would also be nice to hang out with some locals once in a while to get a feel for the local vibe and lifestyle - so I thought couch surfing might be a good option.

I have a pretty easy-going disposition, and I'm clean, quiet, and a non-smoker. I adore animals and nature walks - so discovering the landscapes and wildlife here has been a dream come true for me. However, being from a bustling, cosmopolitan city, I also appreciate the culture, sites, and sounds, of city life (eating out, visiting museums and art galleries, attending performances, going to the cinema, picnicking in the park, outdoor markets and garage sales, thrift shops, etc.)... I also enjoy cooking, and I'd love to learn some local recipes if you have any to share. I've been seeing lots of pie and wrapped meats around, and I've read about this bizarrely named dish called a "floater"??? (Where I come from, a floater might be the least appealing name for anything consumable... but, maybe it doesn't have the same connotations over here???) Anyhow, I'd pretty much try anything once ;)

Oh, and I'm also looking for a job in or around Melbourne for the month of February, so if anyone has anything to offer that would would be great! I'd love to try some fruit picking, but I also have experience in the food and beverage industry (having practically grown up in restaurants), as well as in administrative assistance... Hope to hear from you!
