About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I have one semester to finishing college (English/History); I now need to see more of this planet, breath the air, meet the people. I will be greatly in debt, so all I can offer is a writing sample or work for you.

ABOUT ME

I procrastinate constantly. Ok, so, someone broke into my van a year ago. I don't have the money to replace the back window, so I bought plastic sheet and duct tape. I have been tired of looking at the grey interior, so I decided to replace the carpet and spraypaint the interior (check it out: blue, black, red and yellow are the colors I went with). It's been raining in San Anto for a few days. I forgot to renew the plastic, which is torn. Now my new carpet is wet. BOO!

I'm almost finished with school and I am so very happy. I am writing short stories constantly. I was almost finished with a great idea until I ran into a snag - NO CONFLICT. It just has a whole bunch of tension and a generous plot. Characters are developed and work well - just no conflict. BOO!

Before I was in school - that is, between high school and college - I played in as many bands as I could: five is my record, three was the usual, one was usually temporary. Today, all of my bandmates have departed or lost time or had a change in priorities. BOO!

I could probably write forever: I will, but not here.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe listening and responding with amiability is the key to a successful enculturation. Enculturation is the beginning of transnational respect. I can agree to disagree, but I think each side can be understood - even when there is disagreement.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I have utilized friendships to couch me. They are great people, generous - they might not see it that way, but they are. Within the "CouchSurfing" community, I am new.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Robert Frost wrote: "Home is the place where, when you have to go there, they have to take you in."

Interests

Books, music, speaking and listening (discussing), jogging, stretching. I like soccer, tennis, and basketball, but I am not the best - haha, I mean, I am not good. I love bowling, billiards, air hockey, foosball and then a whole bunch of board games (monopoly, scrabble, risk, chess). I like watching comedy, drama, horror, thriller, musicals and art films. I have a lot of interests.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like depth and dynamics. I can watch Fellini or Lynch but also sensational flicks, like action and adventure movies. I really like Gilliam. It doesn't end here. There are so many movies coming out every day, know what I mean?

Music is the same as movies - depth and dynamics. I'm really into progressive music, but I also like folk. Love the bluegrass, love the metal. I grew up on punk rock and 70's prog rock (king crimson, rush, queen, pink floyd). Got into doom, drone and noise within the past five years. I like techno, but really fast techno (jungle and D+B stuff like squarepusher). Blues with soul and soulful anything strikes the chord.

I like simple sentences though. I struggle with regional dialects - but I will read it. I have tried too many times to read Finnegan's Wake - forget it. haha. I really enjoy sci-fi and dystopia lit. I read, what else can I say?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I drove cross-country in my van. It's not that I drove cross-country that is so "amazing," it's that my van made it all the way from TX to MO to MI to OH to RI to MD to MA to VA (and then a whole bunch of combinations between New England states) then back to TX. The VA to TX trip was 21 and a half hours and I made it in one drive, stopping only for gas and to whiz.

Teach, Learn, Share

Count: one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four - et cetera. Now every time you listen to music, try counting the beats.

I can teach a lot about music. I can read and write music, but my sight-reading needs improvement. I have a decade plus experience performing live.
