ABOUT ME

We live in central Austin, TX with our dog Bodhi. He's a pit bull, but a sweetheart. We are both recent graduates of UT Austin currently working on the great job hunt (Beau will soon me a middle school science teacher, and Holly is a nurse). Our weekends are generally pretty open to showing people around our lovely city, but the week is usually busy. Things to do around Austin include: hiking the greenbelt, exploring the Texas state capitol, generally lots of live music, sixth street, walking around Lady Bird Lake, kayaking on Lady Bird Lake, and much more!

PHILOSOPHY

We are free thinkers, but highly value the truth. We are very quick to look for evidence when presented with any new ideas, as we are both science oriented. We live our lives to help others and have both chosen our professions based on that... And we love good beer!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We're new to CS, but we're excited to get involved by first showing people around our city and hopefully hosting as soon as our living situation allows for it.

We share a common love for live music, which wound up being one of the reasons we fell in love. We've been to several music festivals (wakarusa, ACL, All Good, rothbury, 10,000 lakes) and both enjoy the camping, crazy people, and the music (of course). Several of our friends in Austin are artists who create anything from paintings to jewelry to glass. On any nice day you can find us at the greenbelt, Zilker park, or any of the disc golf courses around town. Our dog is part of the family, so we like to entertain him as much as possible with various puppy play dates at the beautiful parks here in Austin.

We prefer movies with good story lines, but Beau can get down with a random action movie with little to no plot from time to time. We also watch quite a few documentaries and TED talks.

As far as music goes, STS9 is a favorite for sure. We love jam bands, blue grass, funk-fusion, dub-step on occasion, and anything with a good beat and funky bass line.

Beau has read every Michael Crichton book there is and enjoys reading about evolution and other non-fiction topics.

Holly has read every Harry Potter book there is, enjoys reading about the counter culture, and nutrition.
