About Me
I grew up in the tiny settlement of Kopuarahi, on the Hauraki Plains, near Thames, lived in Auckland for 25 years, and am now back in a small town again - Waipu, Northland. My parents were Dutch immigrants, and we lived on dairy farms. For most of my adult life I've been a writer of some sort - from poet to technical writer to novelist. I currently combine writing a series of erotic novels with managing an architecture practice with my husband, and the occasional bit of housework when chaos threatens to completely overtake our noisy, creative home. We have two sons, aged 13 and 15, who play in New Zealand's youngest Heavy Metal band, Alien Weaponry - luckily we live on a 40 acre block, with the nearest neighbours over 1km away.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Mainly because my sons (aged 13 and 15) play in NZ's youngest heavy metal band, Alien Weaponry. Because of their age, and the fact that they usually play in licensed venues, my husband and I travel with them to gigs around the country, and it's my job to arrange accommodation (as well as driving and making sure everyone is fed). Since we all enjoy meeting new and interesting people, and our budget is usually $0 for accommodation, couch surfing seems a good option.
