About Me

I've taken a year off from what was a hectic life as a high school teacher in Ottawa to "smell the roses" so to speak and grow. Are there roses where you live? I went back to school this past semester in Toronto, ON, Canada to complete some courses to take my principals qualifications in Canada in March 2015. I've been itching to get out and see more of the world and meet some more cool people, share stories and learn. I knew I wanted to travel for a small period of time while I've taken a year off, escape the cold Canadian winter, get sun kissed, get my SCUBA certification, drink some amazing wine and beer and eat delicious food. I love sharing stories and new experiences and truly love meeting people to belly laugh with. Travel need not be too far from home: I'm more than happy exploring our lovely country too!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I couple of friends that I've recently met in Toronto mentioned CS to me and I decided to investigate. CS seems like a great way to meet amazing people - I know you are out there. I also want to get a better appreciation of where you live, what you do and what keeps you ticking. Besides, experiencing a city though a native gives one's experience a whole different perspective.

Interests

Soooo many.... where to start?

Learning about anything and everything
Travel and photography
Art galleries
Outdoor festivals and live music
Film
Dancing
Hockey and Soccer fan
Food, wine and beer

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll listen to anything - well except country music :). I love outdoor festivals and live music especially if there's great beer and company around.

With my year off I'm actually able to read for enjoyment (finally) and I've been conquering the BBC top 100 reads you should read in your lifetime. Some heavy classics are listed here but I'm happy to cuddle up with a good book or hit the beach with one.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Met and had tea with the Honourable Dalai Lama after introducing him at a water conservation conference in Bangalore, India. A-MAZ-ING.

I was also lucky enough to visit London, England for the summer Olympics and watch both the mens and women's final soccer matches.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've got a mathematics and science background so if you need any help with those subject areas..... I'm your woman.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you how to make a mean Gujarati-style Indian curry. Yummy. I'll need to dig into your spice kit, though!
