About Me

I'm a lover of life.

I completely believe in the saying "The ultimate goal in life is to be happy." The thing now is that there's so much happening in our lives that we tend to forget/overlook those things which truly matter. I did that assessment and stepped back, and realized that experiencing life through travel is what makes me happy. This is why whenever I can, I travel - not just to see those wonders, but also to meet new people, along with share and learn from their experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My purpose for travelling is basically aligned with people here in this website. It's to travel not just to see and take pictures of beautiful landmarks, not just to find a hotel and sleep, but more on experiencing the true essence of travelling. I aim to share my experiences with people, and hear and learn from their experiences as well.

PLEASE NOTE:
What you have to understand about Filipinos (or Asians in general, or maybe it's just me), is that when travelling, we don't tend to stay in one place for a long period of time. Typically, we just spend 1-2 days in a city, then move on. I know what you're thinking: it's tiring, you may not experience the city fully in such a short span of time, etc. But you have to understand that our culture doesn't really allow us to take long breaks. One week for us is already considered a very long vacation, which is why we have to make the most of what we have, and try to see a lot in such a short span of time. I guess what I'm saying is that there will be times when we would just spend one night in a city, then we have to move on - and this may reflect in the CS requests that we may be sending you. Please don't think of it in that requesting for one night means we're requesting just to get free room - the underlying reason is because of cultural behavior and time constraints. The overwhelming reason why I joined this website is to meet people and share our thoughts, and experience a place like we would never have had if we didn't do couchsurfing. Don't worry, whether we interact for one day or one week, I'll make sure to connect personally with you. =)

Interests

One thing I'm passionate about is looking for cheap flights. Before when I'm less busy, I look at flight search engines/travel blogs about 2-3 hours on average every day. For me, it's a matter of self-fulfillment to find flights which are less than half the normal amount! So I have quite a goldmine of knowledge regarding where and how to score those cheap flights. ;)

Did I mention that I love football? Barca fan! (Hope Messi and ARG wins WC2018 - come on, he deserves it!)

I also love nature. Those images in my head of rolling hills, snowy mountain peaks, and even sand dunes just soothes me and makes me step back from all the chaos happening elsewhere. It reminds me that life isn't supposed to be stressful.

For sure, I have so much more interests that I cannot enumerate all of them - and maybe gain even new ones by meeting people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ohh the obvious Harry Potter (I'm a big Potterhead!), Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Sherlock, Inception, Interstellar, Friends, and HIMYM.

What keeps me busy recently though are books about the environment - the true things that are happening, the magnitude, and what I can do to enable sustainability. If you're interested in these kinds of topics, then we could have hours worth of conversation about this. Just remember: Even though you use plastic bags to carry your stuff, it doesn't necessarily make you happy/make your life easier - right? But it affects the environment severely. Why continue using/doing something you're apathetic with, which runs a great risk for our survival in the long term?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Initiated a tutorial project for public schools.
- Slept under a gazillion stars in Zambales and saw 20 meteors in that night!
- Seven Wonders of the World: 3/7!

Teach, Learn, Share

Talk about everything under the sun! I'm a really curious guy, so you'll hear me ask a lot of things about you. However, this is not just for the sake of being able to start a conversation - I usually link it to my knowledge and experiences as well, because I think it's in that way that we're able to see our similarities and differences and understand more about each other.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share you my home whenever available. Definitely take you around Batangas City if we're meeting in the Philippines, or ideally have dinner together if I'm in another country.
