Hello, my name is Jacques. I am a cook and a musician, who is about to travel to Salvador, Brazil. I plan to do some volunteering in Salvador, and want to immerse myself in Brazilian life, and speak as much Portuguese as I can! I have some beginner to intermediate level of Portuguese, having lived in Rio de Janeiro for 6 months a few years ago. I have a deep interest in Brazilian culture particularly the music, and I hope to connect with some local musicians to take some lessons and to jam!

Some of my favourite Brazilian music is samba de mesa, and pagode de mesa, also all the tropicalia stuff, Gilberto Gil, Veloso, Di Melo, Emilio Santiago, funk, jazz, avant garde, everything good!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I planted a huge vegetable garden in my friend's yard, and enjoyed plenty of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables all grown and nurtured by me and my friends!

I am fluent in English and French. I am a professional cook, and a pretty good guitarists. I am looking to immerse myself in Portuguese and the local culture.
