About Me

Hi!

You can choose the intros - I try to adapt myself to the person I'm hanging out with (yeah yeah be yourself I know).

1) Simple bar styled
2) Philosophy
3) Under construction

Part #1 - Simple "bar-styled" intro
Marc from The Hague here, living in a smaller town called Delft now. I speak quite well Dutch, English, French and Spanish.
I more or less have all the traits a couchsurfer should have - easy going, open, feels at home quickly.
I can cook you a meal but the results tend to vary greatly, I always get scared in foreign supermarkets.
I try to feel at home in every environment, so I try to step out of my comfort zone to enlarge it (it's not such a big zone in many aspects, so it's easy to step out). Even travelling alone was scary for me at first! And wanting to feel at home every also has made me to want to learn languages, next goal: Russian.

Part #2 - More elaborate... An intro into my thoughts
I've been starting to love travelling alone more and more. People talk so much during their lives, and when you travel alone you get the time to think. At some point you might think to yourself: when I'm with people, how can I even talk so much? Then, while travelling, totally different thoughts will start flowing. Normally, I think we are used to structuring our thoughts in words. While travelling, you can start to think in feelings, images or other ways that I cannot express in - you guessed it - words. Now these thoughts, I want to share with other people. Depending on how well we get along I will share them quickly or maybe after two beers. Thing is: although you might get different thoughts while alone, there's also no one to keep you from having crazy thoughts.
I am an applied physics student towards the end of my studies, and I'm thinking about continuing studying philosophy. The way we believe that our way of thinking or our way of believing/knowing is the only one interests me without boundaries. If you want to think a bit about this with me: I'm your man!

See ya!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While exploring the world one of my goals is to really get to know a culture, something that is not done in a week. I have lived in Ongata Rongai, close to Nairobi, for 3 months, and in Medellín, Colombia for 7 months. Both invaluable experiences!
However, this goal also holds me sometimes from seeing everything I want to see... But by couch surfing, I try to speed up the process of getting to know a place (or showing a place), the people there, and the customs.

Interests

Surfing (wind or wave, would like to learn kitesurfing)
Cycling around town real quickly when it's crowded
Music (play piano and learning guitar)
Swimming while it's raining

Travelling (obviously)
