Hi! my name is Marieke, I just graduated in june as a master in textile design in Belgium.
As for now I'm traveling/ and volunteering in Japan for a few months. november-januari.

I am a person who loves being outdoors and walking a lot, especially in mountains. Where you feel really small against the greatness of nature. I'm really interested in art, philosophy and literature (fiction (Lulu Wang, Mo Yan, Eric de Kuyper,... f.e.), non fiction; everything that gives me more knowledge about the world actually!) I really love movies lately. And i love to knit socks too. (while watching movies)
I could say I'm a friendly, creative, enthusiastic, down to earth person. I really like to try new things and be surprised! Discovering new places, meeting new people and getting to know them and their lifestyle/ culture is something what really inspires me and let me grow as a person.
I like to share about things and like to do things together but don't mind at the same time spending time alone.
I think its the balance between those two that makes me the happiest.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

couchsurfing is all new to me! a friend of me told me about it and also told about the positive experiences she had.
I would be nice to be surrounded by people who actually live in Japan, to get to know their habits, the language, ...
To really get to know the country as best as possible! It's all about the sharing!
