Chi sono

I'm a writer/screenwriter trying to make it to the big leagues. I have devoted the best part of the last 20 years to the nerd culture and, when I'm not writing, I'm probably playing video games (or writing about them).
I love music, especially progressive and psychedelic rock. I mostyle enjoy bands like The Who, Rush, Alan Parson's Project, The Beatles, The Doors, Yes and ELP among many many others. I used to be a musician, so I love music and discovering new bands from all over the world.
The last four years of my life I've been in a personal quest to taste the best beers in the globe. I'm actually writting a book on the very phoenomena of Mexico's emerging microbrewery scene.
I like to meet new people and sharing stories, interests and knowledge. Although I might seem awkward at times, I'm a rather social person.
I'm considerably organized, but not to the point of being a control freak.
I'm an atheist, but I respect all beliefs and even admire some of them. I don't want to sound like a total cliché here, but I'm really open-minded.
I always have something to say or a story to tell, so I can guarantee you will not get bored with me around. To be honest, I'd rather have a beer in a pub or play board games all night long than going clubbing, but I'm open to anything if there's fun in the process.

Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing

I've always thought that traveling to a new place as a tourist is nothing but a waste of time and money. there's nothing like getting to know a place from the inside, from its people and the places they go to. There's something quite unique in an experience when you get to know a new place, but you also get to know the people living in it. I love knowledge and culture, so when I meet someone fro another country, I am facing a whole new world and a whole new set of stories I would like to know.

Interessi

I love science fiction, in any way it's delivered. I consider myself a die-hard Star Wars fan, but I also like stories by Asimov, McCarthy and Gibson. I'm studying english literautre, so I know a thing or two about books. I'm in the verge of launching, with some friends, a website dedicated to the nerd culture. I enjoy knowing new places and making new friends, especially if we can end up in a heated argument about the most nonsensical stuff. I love debating, I studied in law school for about three years, by the way.
I like going to concerts and festivals, even if they take me to another country. One of the reasons I'm traveling this year is to go the 40th anniversary Rush concert in Madison Square Garden.

Musica, film e libri

The Doors, Yes, Rush, The Who, The Beatles, Alan Parson's Project, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Radiohead, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Blue Oyster Cult, Jethro Tull, Rammstein, Fleetwood Mac, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Santana, Babasónicos, Zoé, Café Tacvba, Molotov, Boston, most 80's rock and pop scene, The Strokes, The Hives, The Vines, Kings of Leon, The Offspring, Drugi Nacin, Mago de Oz, Picchio dal Pozzo, and many, many more.
My favorite movie is Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, I love the saga, except for Episode II. Leon is my favorite non-SW movie, followed closely by the Back to the Future Trilogy and Forrest Gump. I also like Blade Runner, The Fifth Element, Scarface and The Devil's Advocate.
Edgar Allan Poe is my favorite author from all time. I like his prose, but I'm very interested in his poetry as well. I have to mention authors like Well,s Gibson, Bradbury and McCarthy in the sci-fi section. I really enjoy texts by Samuel T. Coleridge. I also like stories and lore from Lovecraft. I will not mention the classics, mainly becuase they're part of my study plan now and I relate the to school in the less sexy fashion.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

I've tasted over 250 different beers from all over the world. That's pretty amazing, if you ask me. I've done may things that do not necessarily entail a risk or an adrenaline rush, but I'm proud of the results I'm getting from thw website I'm creating along with my friends. We are going to fil a documentary on La Mole Comic Con, LatinAmerica's biggest show of its kind.

Insegna, impara, condividi

I enjoy teaching and I'm very patient dping it. I can teach music -I play the keyboards- or english and spanish. I'm pretty skilled when it comes to writting -in spanish mostly- and have some experience with style correction and grammar.
I can also teach some beer tasting.
I would love to learn a new language or a skill involving my hands. My dexterity is not what it used to be and I'm interested in crafting and repairing stuff.

Cosa posso offrire ai padroni di casa

Stories and random trivia. I'm a useless knowledge collector and love sharing it with others. I consider myself a storyteller, mainly due to my workline, so I'm always eager to share something I know or something I create. I can share my bit of mexican culture, it's way more fun than it sounds. My time, obviously, and I can always lend a hand for whatever you need.
