Hello,

My name is Pedro and I am an Architecture and Urbanism student at Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Two years ago I decided to join the Science Without Borders program. The SwB is a Brazilian Government Program in order to send selected students to study for one year in a another country. That is a lot of different places around the world but I chose United Kingdom. for the three reasons. The first one is because I always was interested about English culture and mores. The second one is because of the language itself, since that we have to do a proficient test to try the program. The third one is because the United Kingdom is located in Europe, where is easy to travel and know a lot of different cultures.

Here in England I am living in Derby and studying Architectural Technology and Practice at University of Derby. Derby is a very nice place for international students, and because of that, there is a lot of international students. I already had the pleasure to know people from Italy, Holland, Norway, Algeria, Nigeria, Dubai, India and also a number of people from different places and the different cultures from Brazil.

I already travel a lot here, I went to Germany (where I did the Romantic Rout (Romantischen Straße) went to Monique, Bremen and Hamburg) to Italy (Milan, Rome, Bologna, Venice, Naples, Cinque Terre) Belgium ( Brussels) Holland (Amsterdam) and Ibiza.

Now I am going to do another trip, with a Brazilian friend, and we are going to Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Krakow and Warsaw) starting at 25/03/2015 to 13/04/2015.

I am very nice person and I like movies, arts, technology, music. I really like to party, I like to go to different nightclubs, pubs and drink a typical beverage. At the same time I like to chill, and cook and talk.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

All the trips that I mentioned here I did staying in hostels, which is very good because we can know people from different places that stays with us in the same room. But now I want to have a different experience and try knew things. And a friend of my told me about couchsurfing and I really would like to have that experience of really knowing someone from the place that I am going and know the culture and everything about it.

Also, I am here because if someone is coming to England and search about Derby and want to know let me know. Also, not only here, but in Brazil as well. I Brazil I live in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Belo Horizonte is a very good place to stay. And since that I am coming back to Brazil next august, my place is open for you that wants to know Belo Horizonte.

Interests

I am really interested in arts and technology and those two things fit and work together. I also like to cook, and learn how to cook typical foods from different places. I do not have any preferences, my objective here is to know different cultures.

I like all the types of music, it depends on the event that I am in. But normally aI listen to pop, rock, indie and a lot of types of Brazilian music, like MPB, Samba and others.

Teach, Learn, Share

During the period that I am a guest and also a host I can share experiences, culture and a lot of things about Brazil and somethings about England. Since that is not a long period, I can try to teach some Portuguese as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share experiences, Brazilian culture and mores. Also I can share knowledge about arts, architecture and technology. I am really into politics, so we can have some talk about that as well.
