Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Sonia:
Even though I've just joined couchsurfing, I had this experience long time before it was a thing. When we were travelling in Spain in 2002 we arrived to the little village in the evening and found out that the only hostel, which was supposed to be here was out of order. We were sitting desperate outside in the street, when stranger approached us and started a very difficult half-spanish, half-english, mostly hand gestures conversation. At the end, he invited us to his place to stay. I was scared because I was only 20 and in the foreign country where I couldn't speak their language... Long story short - it was amazing experience and I am happy that now couchsurfing is here to add more safety to this experience.
