Overview
About Me
I'm kate, I'm from Northern England, near Manchester and Liverpool. I'm very nice! I love music, art, visiting new places, galleries, useless northern English proverbs, tacos..
I'm currently having the best time of my life spending time in Northern and Central America.
I left my life in London for a year-long "research" trip, and spent 3 months driving round America looking at quilting communities, driving by the sea and listening to blues music. spent 4 months in Mexico learning about Textiles and Weaving, and JUST arrived in Toronto after 3 months living in Austin, Tx teaching weaving workshops. I'll be in Toronto for a maximum of 2 months and looking for friends, hang out buddies or any kind folk who may host me a few days.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been travelling a bit off the beaten track looking for indigenous textiles.. And There's been many times when a friendly and knowledgeable face would have been greatly welcomed!
I really like getting straight into a community and meeting folk who live there. I love learning about new places and feeling like I live there even if it's just for a short time. I wanna make buddies!
I've met a lot of interesting people who've couchsurfed too.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music- 60&70s/alternative/psych/a lot of stuff
FILMS n TV - Wes Anderson, Cohen Brothers, lots of TV series- it's always sunny, modern family, Broad City, Game of Thrones etc.
Books- I like a lot of American authors- bukowski, kerouac. All the pretty horses by Cormac McCarthy was the last book I read and absolutely loved. I like Si Fi too, and African author Chinua Achebe, he's wonderful.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Took the Trans Siberian railway across Russia to Lake Baikal when I was 19. It was probably the most amazing thing I've done. Truly beautiful and strange and traditional part of the world.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well if you're interested in learning Backstrap weaving or how to dye fabric with natural dyes from plants and insects I d LOVE to do that with you! I'm also pretty good with a sewing machine so I can fix the holes in your trousers or take up your curtains 😄
And I'm pretty good at accents.
I love sharing stories and learning people's histories.
I'd really love to keep up my Spanish speaking.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Fun times! Whisky and beers (cowboy cocktails)
I can help around the house, I love washing up! I worked as a teaching assistant before I left London, so I'm happy to help with kids. Or teaching Phonics to adults!
And fixing things!
And a return hosting in a beautiful countryside village in Northern England.
