Overview
About Me
I'm a cook from Finland in my thirties, who enjoys food, music, everything obscure and weird and of course a good adventure! I sing in a country band back home, organize gigs and have an extensive cabinet of curiosities. I love traveling and we seem to be doing it a lot with my girlfriend.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet new people and to see the world. With all the traveling I've done in the past years, I've noticed that you can only get the true experience through meeting people. Just browsing through the sites is actually fairly superficial. You see new things, but you don't really feel it. When you meet new people and have conversations and are a part of their life, you can really get the best memories and be a part of the country you visiting and not just a passer by.
Interests
Food & Music. They seem to run my life. Singing and going to gigs, eating out and cooking new things. Also I seem to have an unexplainable need to poke my nose into places that look strange, abandoned or even a bit forbidden. I wouldn't call it urban exploration, but if there's a weird hole in the ground I'd rather get in it then pass it. And then there's the whole collecting weird shit part, that seems to be taking over my life. Everybody needs a cabinet of curiosities, I think. A stuffed armadillo named Wesley is one of my more priced possessions.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like all kinds of music from metal, to rap, rock, country and beyond. Tom Waits, Johnny Cash, Rob Zombie, Everlast and Foo Fighters to scratch the surface.
Favorite movies is a long list. Big Lebowski naturally and Fight Club as an all time favourite. Tarantino stuff.
Books. Well, I've got to admit I'm getting a little bit lazy at reading, but Hitchikers Guide to Galaxy is my favorite. And H.P. Lovecraft is something I thoroughly enjoy.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We've been living in New York with my girlfriend for the past 2 months as she's interning here. It's been an amazing time and a true adventure. Our next plan is to take a roadtrip in the US and hopefully after returning to Europe go spend two months working somewhere in the mediterranean. This might be one of the most amazing things this far.
But I do admit that I do take pride in organizing a two day country festival in our hometown of Turku. And the 2 month tour of Finland with a camper van a couple of years a go, with Southern Comfort sponsoring the way, was pretty damn amazing too.
Teach, Learn, Share
New cultures and new people are what makes this world so interesting. Seeing things through someone else's way of life gives you new visions for you own life. And that's what traveling is all about for me.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm a pretty good cook, considering I've done it for a living for several years now. Cooking for friends, old and new, and eating together is something that I believe connects people in a profound way.
My girlfriend Liisa whom I'm travelling with is working in fashion design, so if you've got broken socks or even worse clothing disasters sheshould be able to take care of it =)
