As a social scientist, I am a curious observer of human behavior. Rather than it just being my scientific field, I turned my hobby into my job, so to speak. ;) I've been living in pittoresk Utrecht, the Netherlands, for six years now. Last summer I finished my Master in Migration, Ethnic Relations and Multiculturalism. At the moment I am working on my PhD research, which is part of an international project on migration within Europe. Participating countries are the Netherlands, Portugal, the UK, Poland, Spain and Norway.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing seems the perfect way to meet people abroad and experience more of the local lifestyle. I've lived with four housemates while in my studies, so I know how to be a good roomie!

Interests

I like to learn more about other cultures, especially when this involves trying delicious food, exploring stunning nature, and discovering quirky cultural habbits. I am a fan of unusual conversations, dancing and biking, but hey, I'm a Dutchie, so this might not be very special (the last thing, obviously. The Dutch are generally terrible dancers).

As always I will take it as my personal mission to convince you that the Netherlands is more than Amsterdam (Yes, I know that's probably the only place in the Netherlands you know. Name one other city. See, that's what I mean) and persuade you to visit Utrecht next time. We further can have an interesting discussion about migration and integration related topics!
