About Me

Hello,

I'm a 34 year old Australian who has worked teaching English in Melbourne (my home city), Dubai, London and Italy. Aside from that I have travelled extensively, particularly since 2013 when I left Australia for the second time. I really enjoy reading, writing, being outdoors, yoga, swimming, surfing (I'm a beginner) and cooking and when I return home to Australia, I will be open to sharing my space with other travellers so I can stay connected with other travellers! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I thought it would be a new experience to try and a few friends have recommended it. I used to use hostels, then Air B n B, now I will try Couchsurfing and will hopefully get to see a city through the eyes of a friendly local!

Interests

Metaphysics, travelling (obviously), reading, meeting interesting people and all of the things I listed in the about me section! I have also gotten into Salsa dancing over the last year and enjoy all things Latin America. Yes- even reggaeton.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music- I have a wide taste in music and, with my travels, have started listening to more Latin American music. I listened to a lot of hip hop and R&B, when growing up, but after living in Italy a while ago, I started listening to more house music. My iTunes library has 11,00 + songs and I subscribe to Spotify and Tidal, so I suppose I like a bit of everything.
Movies- I can't think of a favourite movie off the top of my head but The Inbetweeners is definitely the funniest TV series I have ever watched...repeatedly.
Books- One Hundred Years of Solitude, The Alchemist and a lot of other books by Paulo Coelho, Lady Chatterly's Lover and quite a few more. My favourite author is probably Gabriel Garcia Marquez and I love the Magic Realism genre.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I visited Syria twice which I loved at the time but is probably slightly more 'amazing' now that it is unvisitable at the moment.
I did a SkyDive over The Palm while I was living in Dubai. It was summer and very hot.

Teach, Learn, Share

As it is my profession, I am happy to help you with anything English related, if you want to improve your English, or have anything that needs proofreading for work- I still do that for my past students. I am also happy to teach you a good recipe, or if you don't want to learn, I can just cook you dinner while you relax ;) If you are interested in travelling to a location I've been to, I can help plan your trip and give you some great tips!
