My name is Roel and I am a young professional in Amsterdam. I like to be a positive, creative and curious person.

I quit my job to do a lot of travelling for a year! I've spent some months in France and now I'm on a biking trip from the Netherlands to Bulgaria. It would be cool to meet along the way!

I got introduced to couch surfing in 2014, and since then I've both surfed and hosted. It's always great fun to hang out with fellow travellers and I've been able to show and see many cool spots. When I say goodbye to a couchsurfer, I often find I have learnt something new from them, or have been offered a new perspective. That's what I really enjoy! Also, feel free to send me a message.

Cooking (almost always vegetarian, I like Indian and Italian), playing guitar (since childhood mainly classical, but also for singing), running, music, bouldering, art, society & social issues, psychology, spirituality, history, anthropology.

Now, during my trip obviously biking, and being outdoors in general.

I am a huge lover of music, and I bet there is at least one artist we both like! Films and books: not frequently, but if there is any trend there I like the Coen brothers and fantasy novels.

I'm proud to have once published an academic article - even though I have left academia since.

Right now I'm biking 3250 km from the Netherlands to Bulgaria.
