To really get to know a place you go, I believe you have to meet someone who actually lives in there, the experience is completely different, I like hostels and meeting people there but it's not the same as etting to be with a local.. And in hotels you´re very isolated from people in a hotel room, I´d like to meet new people, and help them out however I can during the time I´m at their city, have someone who lives there to talk to and share experiences and tips about their city, I think that for having a complete experience you should be with a local in a normal day experience.
