About Me

I am an open-minded, social and cheerful person, interested in many many things (see interests). I try to live consciously and environmentally friendly. I love meeting new people and talking about interesting topics. People say I am a talker, so I'm not offended if people interrupt me so they can say something, too :D
I'm looking forward to being a mom soon, so I don't know what the future holds for me.
I don't really know what else to write here. I think my interests describe me best. I am kind of creative, though I wouldn't consider myself an artist. I know many artists and their stuff is much more creative or of a higher quality than mine. I do love working with kids and helping them being creative. Kids are glorious and can teach us many things.

There are some things that I don't like which I should mention here, I think. I do not drink alcohol but I don't disapprove of people who do either. Though I hate it when people don't know their limits and start behaving differently/stupidly because they drank too much.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like staying in homes instead of hotels or hostels. I don't need much when I stay somewhere, I can sleep almost anywhere. I try to stay with family if I can but of course even though I have family in many different places in the world, they are not everywhere :-)
I like meeting new people and I enjoy learning about places from locals. I am of the opinion that real people can tell you a lot more about a town/city than any tourist guidebook.

Interests

Most of all: vaulting! I love vaulting and I think it's the greatest sport in the world. It combines taking responsibility for horses and other people as well as athletics, gymnastics, acrobatics, performing to music, being in a team, competing and showing off your team on competitions, building trust, friendships, loyalty and so many other things I can't even enlist here! Try googling it if you don't know the sport (don't confuse it with pole vaulting :P)

I also love the following things:
sewing, reading, talking, meeting friends, theater (both watching and performing), organizing events (for example vaulting things), teaching, working with children, volunteering, crafting, listening to audio books, poetry and poetry slams, watching movies, dancing...

Music, Movies, and Books

That's a hard one. I don't like it when people ask me what kind of music I like because I don't know what to say. I like very different kinds of music. I can't really tell which genre I like best and I don't have a favorite band or singer, nor a favorite song. It mostly depends on my mood which kind of music I like. I like music that makes me want to dance all the time. But sometimes I like sad music too.
I also enjoy paying attention to the lyrics as well as the tune.
For the Berliners or people who know Berlin's radio stations: I enjoy listening to Radio 1!
Summary: Just play some music to me and I'll tell you if I like it :)

My favorite movie is also complicated. I like comedies and documentaries, I like dramas, romances and sometimes even thrillers, though of they are to creepy I don't watch them when I am alone. I definitely do not watch horror movies (especially not on my own)! One of my favorites is the bird cage, or Mrs Doubtfire (Robin Williams is my favorite actor). There are so many good movies, though! I enjoy watching movies, that's for sure. I can tell I really like a movie when I never get tired of watching it.

My favorite book is, I have to admit, Harry Potter. I love other children's books too because I think you usually only fully grasp there meaning as an adult but also learn from them as a child. Harry Potter has it all, though. Moral (love, friendship, courage), some deep, wise moments, some funny ones, too… and it creates tension reading it (mostly I listen to it as an audio book, though) which is one of the properties I think good books should have. I can never start a good book when I have to study for an exam or am very busy because I will just get distracted from my book and I can't stop reading until aloe the mysteries have been solved and questions answered. I love it when books are unpredictable and keep me tense (and impatient) until the end. Harry Potter really has some very unexpected turns in the last part.
I also love classics like Jane Austen novels. Generally, I like novels best when I read for pleasure. For information I check the internet or read the newspaper, but I usually don't read any self-help-books or how-to-books cover to cover.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am very proud of what I achieved with a small empirical study I conducted during my studies. I went to a convention with my professors, presenting the results on a poster there. Usually only Ph.D. students go there or even well established researchers and publishers. The amazing thing is that I won second prize in the poster competition. I wasn't even at the prize-giving ceremony because it cost money to attend it and I didn't even dream of winning because it was the first time for me to do and present empirical research.

Teach, Learn, Share

If I have time, I can show you how to sew and follow a pattern (some easy first steps, I am not at all an expert!).
I enjoy cooking and I love good food! I know some good recipes I am more than willing to share, and I am also always interested in trying out new recipes.
I did an internship in a puppetry center once and my Godmother is a puppeteer. So I know some cool and easy ways to make different kinds of puppets from inexpensive materials.
I can also help you handling your horse if you bring one ;)

Maybe I should say this much: Even though I live in Berlin I don't know much about the city because there is A LOT to do. I know some good places to spend time, like alternative movie theaters, some cool improv groups, parks worth going to hang out… I know just a little bit about bars, cafés and restaurants, but the places I do know are good ones (for breakfast, dinner and having drinks). So I can offer some advise on that. Of course I know Berlin's most famous sights and I know how to get there. I don't know anything about clubs in Berlin because I usually go to bed when other people start clubbing ;)

I am an expert when it comes to public transport. In this city you DO NOT need a car or a cab. You can get anywhere by train/bus/tram at any time. Of course it sometimes takes longer at night, but you always arrive. And the night time journeys are usually the most fun (depending on where you're going and where you're coming from).
