About Me

Born and raised in Nitra, an old central-european city, having a cosmopolitan view since first hearing about Plato and Socrates and having an inner urge to finding oneself upon reading the words of Gandhi, life has shown me its immensity which I can never finish discovering and learning. Later on, I went to Charles University in Prague, changed to stay for work, and then rediscovered the appetite for formal knowledge, gained two Bachelors in Applied Biology and in European Humanities, now pursuing Plant Protection at the Slovak University of Agriculture.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To be truly cosmopolitan one has to go behind his comfort zone, as my good friend would put it, and to discover the variety of humanity in its ethnic and cultural forms. Meanwhile, knowing people can be an enjoyable activity :)

Interests

Since my nature is scientific since childhood, yoga, the science of life, is a must :)

Meditation is an aspect of yoga and a means to be more aware, mindful or tuned - all of these are a way to a higher experience of life.

Sightseeing, or better sight-experiencing, comes along if one combines traveling and mindfulness - for me it means experiencing the place as it has changed in time and thus derived a meaning or beauty or both.

Cycling is a perfect means to combine sport with traveling.

There is something mystical about the sea - it reminds of infinity as well as womb, thus the beginning and the end of the journey. Walking on the coast or feeling the ocean breeze while sailing or diving into the blue, are for me activities that reinforce life itself.

Music, Movies, and Books

I subscribe to the view "music is the universal language". Favourites are european and indian classical music (performers: Ravi Shankar, Hariprasad Chaurasia), ethnic music (persian, armenian, mediterrenean, chinese, peruvian), sometimes I listen to traditional music (slovak, irish, nordic, american folk), new age (Paul Horn, Tal Coleman) and religious chants of different traditions, and I like to discover other ethnical or contemporary music with a soul.

I am not very much of a bookworm, rather searching for concise wisdom books, personal travel books, books of myths and literature of facts (history, science, nature).

Movies accompany me since childhood as a way to relax. Favourite genres are sci-fi (Star Trek, Star Wars), comedies (Funes, Reno, Cleese), biographical (Elisabeth, Gandhi), ethnic (Whale Rider, Children of Heaven), remakes of dramas (Romeo and Juliet), anime (Nausica, Laputa, Spirited Away) and travel or nature documentaries.
