Overview
About Me
I am an ESL teacher on holidays in Valencia, the budget answer to Barcelona.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Travelling should mean more than going to see things. I love the idea of strangers sharingstories like in the Canterbury Tales.
Since the Erasmus programme has not achieved a cohesive and tolerant Europe and AirBnB is driving the working classes towards the suburbs, our only solution at the moment is CouchSurfing.
Interests
My habitus, as understood by Bourdieu, is playing the guitar and the ukelele. I tend to gravitate towards other musicians and jams or concerts. I'm starting to play in open mics at the moment and I have to say it's really fun.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
I really like bands with a strong songwriter behind it: The Divine Comedy, The Mangetic Fields, The Indelicates, Tocotronic. I love songwriting in general, however I also like instrumental music like Post Rock or classical music.
Books:
Margaret Atwood - The Handmaid's Tale
George Orwell - Homage to Catalonia
Philip K Dick - Ubik
Jack Kerouac - On the road
David Foster Wallace - Infinite Jest
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've worked at the Trinity College in Dublin - at the buttery though.
I've completed all of Metal Slug's games. Cheating, I'm afraid.
I've seen flocks of parrots flying across orange Mediterranean skies. We're having a little problem with Parrott communities in Valencia.
I've played live in open mics across Europe. Never been booed.
I've understood some Deleuzian philosophy. However, I'm not sure I can explain it to you.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm learning German at the moment.
Apart from speaking and being Spanish I also speak the mysterious yet increasingly popular Catalan language and can offer my perspective on our culture!
Countries I’ve Visited
Andorra, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Portugal, United Kingdom
