Hey!

I'm Maarten, a 21 year old student from Holland.

Currently, I'm still in college trying to figure life out. Besides that, I like to do sports like football and surfing. Music is one of my hobbies also, I like to DJ and I produce my own songs sometimes. Recently, I've gotten into fitness as a hobby. I'm also very interested in languages.
Since I'm in the Industrial Engineering and Management programme at my university, I'm very much into business and technology. Very passionate about having my own start-up as well.

When it comes to travelling during my life, I have a lot of catching up to do. Last year I did a great trip around Europe, visiting Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Ljubljana and Munich. Along with a great spring trip to Krakow. I'm looking to expand my list of cities and countries visited.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I feel like staying with locals during a trip really adds something to the experience altogether. It helps learning about the culture, picking up some words of the native language and discovering places you wouldn't have discovered without a local host.

After couchsurfing once with a friend of mine who was already on here, I decided to join myself, since I really loved it.

Interests

I'm into sports, music and movies, and of course, having a blast with my friends. Also, I like to read papers on psychology, business related topics, stocks and technology.

Furthermore, I'm into history. I have been studying WW2 as well as some other topics. I like to visit museums and watch documentaries.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to music, I really don't have a favorite style or whatsoever. You could easily find me listening to hard rock one day, and enjoying some old classic by Jay Z the next one.
The same goes for movies, the movie I watch usually resembles the way I'm feeling at that particular moment. :)

I like to take it easy and watch TV shows sometimes, among my favorites are Californication and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

I like to share my stories and share things that make me happy ( a lot does 😊) . I'm really into cooking, although I'm better at eating than preparing dishes sometimes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share stories from my all-day life and my previous travels. I can let you in on some Dutch culture and some of the Dutch language. As I'm very much into documentaries, I can always share things I have seen or knowledge I have acquired.
In addition, during my travels I had a lot of crazy experiences. for example a fake airbnb reservation which resulted in two Arab people fighting, haha.
Also, I like to joke and am in general a happy person, a laugh and a good time is the thing I want to share the most.
