About Me
Hello there !
As you might have figured out by now, my name is Jeanné le Roux. I'm currently working two jobs and trying to figure out where to go from here (Grad school!? Gap year?). I have a degree in Earth System Science (and am used to people asking me...so what do you do with that?) and currently make a living by messing around with satellite imagery and by digitizing data for an archaeological consulting firm. I have practiced ballet since the age of three, am constantly listening to music, enjoy drawing and have an intense love for the outdoors. I have lived in several states but am currently residing in Huntsville, Alabama.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have a constant, undeniable craving for travel. Unfortunately, traveling can be expensive, and as a recent college grad i'm definitely living the broke life. A few of my friends have used couchsurfing in the past, and it seems like a neat way to connect with new and interesting people while at the same time making some of my dreams of travel more accessible.
My living situation is a bit weird right now, but a soon as that gets sorted out my couch will be wide open!

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a wide variety of music. If I like it, then I like it. I have a tendency to listen to EDM and alternative music (Pretty Lights, Odesza, Bassnectar, The Shins, Simon& Garfunkel, Broken Bells, Flume, Alt-J, Coyote Kisses, Django Django, Kid Cudi) but my tastes are far and wide... I enjoy listening to some Irish tunes (Kila is a articular favorite of mine) and of course it's hard to beat Pink Floyd.
I used to be a total bookworm, but college has actually changed that. I miss reading as often as I used to. I have read more YA books than I like to admit...
- Harry Potter
- Perks of being a Wallflower
- His Dark Materials Trilogy
- The entire 'A Wrinkle in Time' series
- The Hunger Games Trilogy
Beyond that I find myself getting sucked into science based text, particularly in biology.
Not a huge movie person...but I am always pleased when I see a movie that can move me to the core...recommendations, anyone?
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hands down one of the best things I've ever done was go study abroad in Panama for a few weeks. I got to work out in the field (to collect data for a science project), I got to see some beautiful beaches, I got to meet local people in the most beautiful tiny mountain town, and I learned more than I ever could in a classroom.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can figure out a way to stretch just about any muscle... Let me guide you through a stretching routine and help you feel more relaxed.
