We are a traveling couple, Paula and João. Paula is 29 and João is 24. We are both exchange students from Brazil and we met here in college. Paula is studying to be a doctor and João is majoring in Geophisics and Geology.

About Paula: I love to travel. In the winter, me and some friends drove from Illinois to California, passing in Vegas and Grand Canyon on the way back. Yes, we drove all the way because we wanted to experience the road trip. I also like to spend time outdoors, hate stay in bed until noon! (Lets go out and do something!). Love hiking and the beach, but honestly I hated the winter here! Like to meet people, learn different cultures. It's amazing how people do things different in different places and how we are all the same even thought we are so different. I have a lot of histories to tell about Brazil and my experiences here and I'd love to hear yours. I dont like to cook but I do the dishes happily if someone cooks (that's why João and I make a good couple). I love dogs (specially my yorkshire Chewie that is in Brazil and I miss him so much). I love to excercise and I run 3-4 times a week (makes me feel relaxed and healthy). I can also (kind of) play the guitar. I've had male roommates twice while studying away from home, so I'm ok with hosting or being hosted by guys.

About João, I study Geophysics at University of Brasilia because I love math, computers and specially Geology. I love to be outdoors, hike and look at the different types of landscapes. I also like playing videogames, cooking, working out and playing billiards. If I could pick two things in life it would be cooking and Geology. I love to spend hours at the kitchen making all sorts of dishes and my goal is to make them the best experience for my loved ones, friends and family. I like to improve my cooking to perfection, and it starts at choosing the perfect knife and the fresh ingredients. The kitchen for me it's a place for meditation, learning, relaxation and also a place for self-improvement.

We both love to try different beers (but please, not IPA! lol!). A fine beer with friends is priceless. And we also love good wine (as good as we can afford) and good coffee (we can show you Brazilian coffee, you'll never want any other!)

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

We've always wanted to join CS but now the perfect opportunity poped up. We're going to be on a lab trainning at UMD College Park for a week and we loved DC the first time we went there. We'd like to show a little bit of Brazilian culture, food and the language. We lived 8 months in the Middle West, Southern Illinois to be speficic. We've heard about how people in the east coast have their lifestyle and we'd love to have this experience.

About Paula: I love Brazilian music (I can show you some good ones), but I like everything that is not rap; favorite movies, The Godfather, The Lord of Rings, Inglorious Bastards and averything of Tarantino. I'm not a good reader.

About João: I am a very eclectic person concernig music, I really listen to a lot of different music genders (Indie, EDM, Jazz, Tango, Rock...); My favorite movies are Godfather, Scarface and LOTR trilogy, but I really enjoy movies, I've watched a lot of them! Personally I like the old ones.

Paula can teach some guitar, a lot of things about health care and medical stuff, Spanish.
Joao can teach things about cooking, some German words (I'm still learning), billiards basics and Geology.
