About Me
Hello everyone,
I'm Sabrina, 24 years old and from Germany, I grew up in a tiny place out on the countryside, but studied in a (somewhat) bigger city down south. Temporarily moved back out on the country for work. I study Linguistics, Culture and Translation Sciences. It's a combination of my favorite things in the wolrd. I love foreign languages and foreigners and to encode and decode thoughts through language. I love to meet interesting people and learn about their lifes, I love finding resemblances or differences from foreign cultures to your own, because it makes you see yourself in a different light.
I would describe myself as a friendly, laid-back, humorous, maybe even somewhat crazy (the good kind of crazy) person. I'm open to new things and spontaneous, so if you wanna go jump in the River at 3 in the morning, I'd probably be down for that, depending on how convincing you can be ;D I'm considerate and reliable (maybe that's of importance for potential future hosts). And I'm usually always in a good mood.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
That's also part of the reason why I'm on couchsurfing. I've always enjoyed staying at my friends' places when I was abroad. Luckily, from an exchange year in the United States back when I was 16, I had a lot of foreign exchange student friends that were scattered over the world map. So I went to see some of them in their home countries, was introduced to their families and/or circle of friends and travelled around with them there. Those experiences were always better travel experiences than those, where I had met them in foreign cities, where neither my friends nor I were familiar with our surroundings. I just feel like experiences with locals are worth much more, because they take you away from the touristy route and walk you down a much cooler path. It's almost like you get a more authentic insight into the foreign culture that you're willing to explore. Plus, it broadens your horizon to meet new people, hear their stories - because we're all sooo very different from one another. Some people's stories are just so mindblowing and inspiring that you start drawing conclusions for your own life, start adapting or omitting things, decide to do sth you wouldn't have considered otherwise...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
flew to the US all by myself, when I was 16 years old and had never seen the inside of an airplane before, just to stay with a family that I had never seen before in my life, and lived with them for a year - I used to be very shy and introverted, so that was probably the most amazing thing I've done, the best thing I coulda done, too.
