On an exchange semester in Sweden

Hello, I'm Mei Hui from Singapore! I am generally a shy and quiet person but once I get to know you, it can be quite different! I am currently pursuing my undergraduate degree in Sociology.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm new to Couchsurfing but it seems like a really great way to know more people from around the world and to hear different stories. I enjoy learning about a new place and its culture when I travel, and what better way to do so than to engage with locals?

Interests

I enjoy sports and used to participate in cross country runs, 400m sprints and long jump but have since taken up floorball. I also enjoy reading about various topics, a good conversation, photography. My favourite views are of the blue sky, fluffy clouds and sunsets.

Music, Movies, and Books

The type of music I like mostly depends on my mood and what I'm doing. If I'm studying or doing work, I enjoy electronica/ambient/downtempo or instrumental/acoustic because it helps me to focus. Otherwise, I enjoy a variety of indie/folk/rock music.

I'm a big fan of PIXAR animations. I also like spy/crime thriller and action movies. I can't take horror movies, they give me nightmares for up to a week. (hahahaha) F.R.I.E.N.D.S is my favourite TV show, I never get sick of it even though I've watched the whole 10 seasons over and over again. I also enjoy Sherlock, The Mentalist, The Walking Dead, (couldn't sleep for a while when I first started watching but the plot is too good to stop watching) and many many others.

I enjoy books of diverse genres, even non fiction!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went on a volunteering trip to Myanmar in 2014 and another volunteering trip to Vietnam in 2015. It is through interaction with the less privileged that I've gained self-discovery and I've since learnt how to find contentment in life's simple things.
