About Me

Hello!

I am an American expat living in Budapest. I've lived here about 9 years now and rather like it :) I'm a smiley person, love to meet new people and explore different cultures. My wife, Dori, and I are passionate cookers and eaters. I am also a musician. We would love to share some of our hospitality with you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I left home when I was seventeen because I thought that I needed to see the world. Well, I was right :) I ended up settling down in Hungary, but I love to travel. Recently we had the opportunity to go to South Korea where my sister resides, and fell in love, once again, with the magic that one experiences out in the culturally unknown. We need to feel that more! Couchsurfing should allow us to visit more places (financially) and obviously locals are the best guides!

Interests

I am a musician. I play guitar, piano and ukulele actively (I also had a 7 year stint on alto sax). Outside of that I love tinkering, creating things, reading and as previously mentioned both cooking and eating.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Music:
That's a toughy. All time favorites include Dispatch, Dave Matthews Band, Weezer, Third Eye Blind, Matchbox 20, etc.

Favorite Books:
The book I've read the most and loved every time: Lamb by Christopher Moore
The Century Trilogy by Ken Follett
The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov

I'm sure I've read thousands of books but these ones really stuck out. However, nowadays I do read a lot of the trilogies coming out with teenagers as the obvious target group. I'm not gonna lie: I eat it up :)

Films:
Dori and I watch a ton of movies, and love to laugh. I despise horror. We don't tend to watch depressing films (though one slips in now and again). Most of what we watch comes out of Hollywood, but we're open to anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I left my home rather young to assimilate elsewhere, and I was quite successful. Now after many years slaving away at an international corporation, I've thrown financial stability to the wind and I seem to be doing alright. These things amaze me at the moment. Part of the reason behind joining Couchsurfing is to lengthen the list :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

With hosts that are open to it, we can share the gift of good food, drink and laughter :)
