Hi! My name is Eva van Westerlaak. I'm an 18 year old girl from the Netherlands, but I'm currently living as an au pair in New Jersey.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

First of all, I love to travel. We as au pairs try to make the most of it this year, and for me that would be to see as much from this country as possible! Unfortunately, au pairs don't make a lot of money. So to travel the most, I had to find a way to make travelling cheaper, and that's how I found Couchsurfing. Now I can travel more on my tiny budget!:)

Secondly, I love meeting new people. Everytime you find a place to stay, it's always a little adventure who you're gonna meet and where you're gonna stay. I just love that! I'm not a big fan of big hotels full of tourists, because I really want to get to know a place for how it really is. And what better way to do that, than to stay with somebody who lives there!

I love sharing my culture, and learning new ones! I promise I'll try to be the perfect guest, I'll respect all of your rules and your house, and I hope that maybe we can spend some time together in the city and have a good time!

Interests

I just love everything that has to do with movies, theater, series, and books. I'm a huge fan of good movies. I could watch them for hours and discuss them afterwards (for series the same. Sometimes I'm a little ashamed of how much I'm actually watching).
I also love the theater. I've been playing in musicals ever since I was young, so you can say that that is my true passion. Since I live so close to New York now, I want to go to every single Broadway musical this year. I'm really trying, but it's too bad it costs a lot of money.
Besides that, I'm also a big fan of books. The older/more origional, the better! One of my life goals would be to have my own (small) library at home.

Besides all the musical and movie stuff, I'm also a big fan of music. I played the piano and guitar myself (it's been a while ago now), and I would love to play in a band someday!

Music, Movies, and Books

Musicals:
My all-time favorite musical is Wicked! Besides, I also love these musicals: The lion king, Finding Neverland, The Phantom of the Opera, and Chicago.

Series:
Game of Thrones is definitely my number one show (can't wait for season 6;))! I'm also a big fan of: Friends, Parks and Recreation, and the Walking Dead.

Movies:
I just can't decide.

Books:
My favorite books are the Harry Potter books for sure! I literally grew up with them, and they are just amazing. I'm also a big fan of the Lord of the Rings trilogy (the books, not a big fan of the movies). You can basically make me happy with any kind of book.

Music:
Coldplay!! I'm so excited to go to their concert this year, they're without a doubt my favorite band! Also a big fan of Imagine Dragons, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, Kensington (a Dutch band), and Chef'special (also a Dutch band).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm 18 years old, and I moved to the United Stated all alone. I think that's pretty cool:)

But I'm also trying to become a walker in the Walking Dead. I'm working on it with a friend, and if it would work out, it would be absolutely the most amazing thing in my life so far!
