Overview
About Me
To be honest, I've got far too many things that I've experienced over the years which makes it difficult for me to do a quick synopsis in the "About Me" section.
That said, I've worked as a pharmaceutical chemist, environmental biologist, musician, broadcast engineer, mechanic as well as (ahem) a few other things.
Since I was 17 years of age, for every summer that I could I would strap a small tent and sleeping bag on the back of my motorcycle and travel throughout the US (especially the southwest) and Canada and sleep where I could.
Later, when I lived in Montreal (where I where I went school where the summers are great but the winters are horrendous) I decided to start spending my winters somewhere that was not horrendously cold.
So for many winters I would go to various places in Thailand (usually Koh Chang to be honest) until I got a bit bored with that and went to Panama for a change.
Because I'm now self-employed with my own independent business (as an outside regular contractor to a local nuclear power plant) I am not really able to travel like I could before but I am willing to host any suitable Couchsurfers who may want to stay in a large place in the country (14 acres) overlooking Lake Ontario (near Brighton Ontario).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To possibly offer a simple place to crash for the occasional traveller who only needs a couch (or an air mattress if there's more than one) in a strange new city for a day or two.
Despite the fact that when I now travel I am fortunate enough to not have to rely on the consideration of strangers for my lodging, I know very well what it is like trying to see the world on limited funds.

Music, Movies, and Books
Far too many books to mention, anything from Feynman to Delores Cannon and Cleve Backster (Primary Perception) and because I listen to and appreciate a wide variety of music (none of which is on corporate radio) I won't even begin to think about categorizing it here.
With regards to movies I generally don't have much time to indulge much lately, but off the top of my head I would say that "The Matrix" and "Idiocracy" are notable to me because in a strange sense I consider them both documentaries of our modern condition.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Functioned as a line-handler on a private sailboat during a Pacific bound passage through the Panama canal.
It was on a home-built 50ft steel sailboat that was constructed in the backyard by a retired steelworker who had been traveling around the world (with his wife) for the last 14 years since his retirement.
It was an absolutely fantastic experience.
